A HISTORICAL GLIMPSE AT AGWARAGI SECONDARY SCHOOL, TALATA MAFARA

Agwaragi Secondary School Talata Mafara has gone through various phases of development since 4th February, 1980 when it was established as one of nineteen secondary schools in the effort to bridge educational gap between Sokoto state and other states in the federation during the leadership of Shehu Muhammad Kangiwa. The school started as Government Day Secondary School Talata Mafara before it was renamed to Agwaragi Secondary School in the late 80s in memory of the famous Sarkin Mafara known as Agwaragi.

The school started with two blocks of five classrooms belonging to Army Children Primary School borrowed from the L.E.A before six temporary classrooms were ordered to be built by the Ministry of Education Sokoto in March, 1980. Though the building of the two blocks of six classrooms had alleviated the shortage of structures in the school, the relief was short-lived as result of high enrolment experienced in June 1980.
